[TREATISE] An Analysis of the Chemistry in The Quality Of the Milk from Different Breeds of Pyrennese Sheep and the Resulting Flavors of Cheese Produced Therefrom.
Summary: This Treatise shall examine, in Exhaustive Depth, the Effects of Different Climate, Fodder and Breed of Sheep from which the milk for cheeses are derived.
- Spend 4 weeks writing the Treatise. These weeks need not be contiguous.
- Spend 100 Pounds having said Treatise printed and bound and distributed to the members of the RA.
- A Summary of the Treatise must be sent to the Head of the Academy (Princess Elizabeth, acting in stead for her father, His Royal Majesty) and all full members of the Academy. The Summary should include the full title of the Treatise. Please use flowery 18th Century Scientific language and capilizatization, please.
- Summary text shouldn’t be more than a paragraph or two. This is optional. Doing this will get you a benefit when the Treatise is voted upon.
- Please mark your Treatise submission with [TREATISE] as the first word in the subject title.
Once submitted, the Treatise will be voted upon at the next meeting of the RA. The Head of the Academy (Princess Elizabeth until further notice) will accept the Treatise on a roll of 7+ on 1D6. If the character’s Scientific Ability is 4 or 5, they get a +1 to their die roll. For each point the SA exceeds 5, the characters get an additional +1 to their die roll.
Each Full Member of the Academy (currently none) may give the Treatise an upvote or downvote.
An Upvote gains the player a +1 to their die roll
A Downvote gives the player a -1 to their die roll
If the player has gone on a Scientific Retreat, they receive a +1 to
their die roll
If the player has gone on an Expedition, they receive a +1 or more to their die roll, depending on the Expedition results
Note that a player may not do a Retreat and an Expedition for the same Treatise; it’s one or the other
A roll of 1 on the die always results in the Treatise being rejected
Treatises may not be resubmitted if rejected
Upon having a Treatise accepted, the character is made a Full Member of the Academy. Membership is for life (or until expelled for non-payment of dues or some other scandal.)

Idiazabal is a pressed cheese made from unpasteurized sheep milk, usually from Latxa and Carranzana sheep in the Basque Country and Navarre, Spain. It has a somewhat smokey flavor, but is usually un-smoked.
The cheese is handmade and covered in a hard, dark brown, inedible rind. It is aged for a few months and develops a nutty, buttery flavor, eaten fresh, often with quince jam. If aged longer, it becomes firm, dry and sharp and can be used for grating. |
